Amy's passion for yoga really blossomed while living in Boulder Colorado for a number of years with her husband. After moving back to West Michigan, she is absolutely in LOVE with the yoga community here.
Amy graduated from PeaceLab Yoga Studio of Grandville Michigan as a 200hr RYT, in April 2017. Since then she has been teaching weekly classes, special series and workshops in the West Michigan area.
Amy is an E-RYT 200, RYT500, and YACEP. She continues her yoga education with specialized workshops led by my teacher Melanie McQuwen, and has learned from Gioconda Parker, Christina Sell, Graciela Mercedes and Dr. Douglas Brooks.
How did you find yoga? What does it mean to you?
The yoga seed was planted when I was a curious teenager and bought a yoga dvd from Meijer. The yoga seed sprouted for me when I was going through a very challenging time, and a friend brought me to an in-person class. At the time, there weren’t many (if any) studios in the area. We went to the basement of an office building after work hours in Grand Rapids. That class changed the trajectory of my life in so many ways. Yoga really BLOSSOMED for me while living in Boulder, Colorado. I was exposed to so many different traditions and disciplines of yoga. It gave me such valuable perspectives. I realized I would NEVER stop learning and I’m still fascinated by every element of the practice everyday
If you could teach people one thing through yoga, what would it be?
Your Breath is your greatest tool. It is a pathway to your peace.
How does the Satya Yoga community impact you?
The Satya community is such supportive and steadfast community. Having been around for so many years the community has surely seen some changes big and small but the community continues to shift and adjust and remains so STEADFAST. Its an honor and pleasure to be a part of.
