The goal of this core workshop is to bring strength and awareness to the WHOLE ENTIRE CORE. We'll highlight the different part of torso visually via diagram and then we'll spend time finding and feeling the different parts physically. This is a two part series and you can attend one or both sessions. Each workshop will be designed to bring you through a full range of motion just like a traditional yoga class. We’ll use different poses to engage the different muscles of the torso. You'll do a crunch or two but we'll emphasize activating the entire core using a variety of positions via standing, seated, kneeling, belly down and supine poses. By the end you will likely feel a new muscle or two in your torso and you’ll get to know your core as more than a six pack. Together in this series we will explore the stories and messages that we have been given and have internalized about our bodies and the ways that we are or are not connected and present to them. This series will use tools, techniques, and movement from Yoga, Qigong and Authentic Movement as well as Intermodel Expressive Arts. We will cultivate greater awareness and presence in our bodies and unravel some of the ways that we are tense and restricted in our body and minds. Join Harvey Deutch and Teresa Van Eyk for this special evening of deep relaxation through yoga and sound. Harvey will lead you in to long holds of supported postures of low intensity with expertise and care, while Teresa leads a sound healing with crystal signing bowls, gong, vocals, and other therapeutic instruments to guide you in to a deep state of relaxation to support your own inner healing. Space is limited. Registration in advance is highly suggested.
Our spine is both an energetic center and a structural support for our physical body. Knowing how the spine articulates/moves can help you to unlock long term restrictions and blocked pathways.
In this 90 min workshop we will discover the intricacies of movement at each junction and region of the spine. Different segments of the spine are capable of different movements. We learn to practice from the inside out and steer the "ship" into hospitable waters. Imagine knowing how body parts are ideally supposed to move? This will create a sustainable yoga practice for a lifetime.
Do you know where rotation is available, the limits of flexion and extension of your spine, how to care for a compromise? Can you decompress your own spine? Investment of $85 covers the cost of the experience including your meal. This event is limited to 12 participants. We recommend signing up right away.
